Parent’s Choice Groupie

If you were to visit our home you would think I was a Parent’s Choice sales rep. or something?! We literally have 90% of their baby products on hand. I recently fell in love with the baby wash & lotion, smells delicious.  I use the formula, diapers, wipes (love), toddler snacks, uuummmmmm I know there is more! Lol

Now that there is ANOTHER new guy in the house, I would love to see Stage I/First food, I know they have great Stage II foods, etc. I am a fan of the quality first, then the price second.

I have to admit a family member introduced me to the formula about 3 years ago, her little girl drank it and she said “ It’s the same stuff as the fancy/expensive name brand stuff”

After consulting with our pediatrician, we’ve been hooked ever since.

BIG can means extra savings!

Do you take a multivitamin?

Granted, I have four children, I manage my house and take care of everyone by myself while my husband is at work all day, I do loads and loads of laundry and run around after two toddlers, run a business, blog, and more from early in the morning until late at night.  Naturally, I am bound to be tired.  But I recently realized that I need to find a little more energy in my day.

My eating habits are not the greatest.  No matter how hard I try to eat well balanced meals throughout the day, many times I find that it is 3pm and I have yet to eat consume anything all day except the half pot of coffee and whatever leftovers my kids didn’t eat from their breakfast and lunch.  Not only is that sad, that is really not good for my body.  I find myself always running and taking care of everything else that I fail to properly take care of myself!  I have made ME a promise to eat better throughout the day, and I have also made ME a promise to take a daily multivitamin.

When I went into the pharmacy on Sunday to pick up some cough medicine (yes, I have gotten quite a few colds this year, probably because I am so run down!), I decided to pick up vitamins.  I refused to spend $20 on name brand vitamins, so I picked up the generic Women’s Multivitamin the store had for $7.99.

I am not sure if it is all in my head, but it has been four days and I am already feeling a bit better.  This morning, I was able to get out of bed without rolling around for an hour and I’m finding myself doing better through the day getting things done this week.  Can it be the multivitamin?

Do you take vitamins?  Do you think they help?

The Store Brand / Name Brand Game

Did you know that many national manufacturers also produce store brand products? Some of these big name brands products are sitting on the shelf right beside its lesser expensive twin. Every day items like aluminum foil, spices, and even frozen vegetables; It might surprise you to know that Reynolds, McCormick, and Birds Eye are also churning out goods for the same stores they sell their name brand lines to.

Many consumers want to know when should one shy away from store brands? Well, I say that a question is a matter of preference for your household and budget.

Read the ingredients list, compare the labels on the name brand vs. the store brand, see for yourself.

What is your experience with switching to store brand food versions? Which name brand foods were you able to substitute with store brand? I have had great success with using store brands and saving a lot of money on my shopping which is always good.

Just call me a savvy shopper :)

Teething Gel

I can’t believe that our 4 month old is already cutting teeth! It seems like he just got here.  Well, poor baby is here & he’s teething L It is really kicking his butt too. So I headed out today to find him some relief. I have all the basic things on deck; paci, teething ring etc.

But he’s starting to run a low grade fever & he’s pretty cranky. Things are so expensive these days, gas, groceries, medicines,,, I could go on & on (……and on). I am always looking for ways to save. Maybe one day I will be featured on TLC’s “ Extreme Couponing Show” http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/tv/extreme-couponing

I don’t leave home without my frequent shopper cards. So I headed to my local CVS Drugstore and look what I found. (See Below) Needless to say, I went with the store brand after comparing the labels and thank goodness Baby Javen is now sleeping peacefully :)

Handsoap…

I absolutely love going to Bath and Body Works and other similar stores to get my scented handsoaps.  My favorite scent is the warm vanilla sugar.  We ran out of handsoaps in both bathrooms yesterday and so I sent my husband to the store to get some more.  I was a bit bummed when he came back with the store brand handsoap.  He bought four of them.  I found out they were two for $3.  At that price, I do not blame him at all!

The handsoap has a fresh, clean scent.  Alright, so it isn’t warm vanilla sugar, but I can always use my scented hand cream to get the scent.  I am connected to a couponing network, and although I see what the ladies do with “extreme” couponing techniques and such, but I am not convinced that spending hours searching for coupons and scouring the best deals in different stores is worth my time, when store brands are just as good (sometimes better!) as brand name and I do not have to waste time trying to get a good deal.   In this economy, every penny counts, and good store-brand handsoap at a great price works in our house!

Diaper, diapers & MORE diapers!

My co-workers, family & friends were nice enough to throw me a shower. Even though this was our 3rd baby, we were still blessed enough to have a really awesome shower. Luckily for me, diapers were the most popular gift of the evening. I was perfectly happy with opening all of the gift bags that were filled with the various diaper brands & wipes, all sizes. We received Huggies ®, Pampers ®, Luvs ® & last but not least Parent’s Choice ®

I have to admit, I LOVE nice things! Name brands have never really mattered to me, long as it is good quality; I a fan. While I have been able to sample all of the various diaper brands on the market from the generous baby shower, when we run out, I know I will be in Wal-Mart looking for my Parent’s Choice.

If you have never tried them, you wont believe the quality and the SAVINGS. They fit my baby perfectly and we have not had any leaks, which is very important, being a family on the go. They have a huge economy box that you can’t beat. I have been a fan of their wipes since my last baby! Don’t let the low price fool you; they are great!

Airplane Snacks

We recently returned from Disneyworld.  Although my oldest has flown before, it was the first flying experience for my three boys, and I was quite anxious about being on an airplane with all four of them for 2 1/2 hours. Flying down, we had my mother-in-law to help us, but flying back home it was just my husband and I with the kids.

Since the kids were up early the morning we left for Florida, I was extremely shocked that not long after takeoff, all three toddlers were fast asleep on the plane.  They woke up with only forty-five minutes left in the air.  We put Toy Story 3 on the portable DVD player and the flight was just amazing.

Flying home with four kids was a bit more of a challenge.  I had stocked up with Parent’s Choice snacks from Wal-Mart and since the kids LOVE them all, it was a pleasure to get everyone settled down with some Little Puffs for the baby and Little Fruits snacks for all of them.  I brought Corn and Cheddar and Banana Little Puffs.  I have to say, the Corn and Cheddar are really awesome snacks even for MOMMIES!  And they are pretty good on calories also!  The kids all love the Apple snacks.  It is nice to have healthy snacks for my kids that are easy to clean up (we had quite a few end up on the floor during the flight).

So, although the kids were a bit more wired than we would have wanted for our flight home (and who could blame them after spending eight days in Orlando???), thank goodness for DVDs and Parent’s Choice snacks!
