Father of the YEAR!

I wanted to take this time to share with you just a few things about my awesome husband.

He is a great dad to our children as well as other neighborhood and church children that he comes in contact with. He goes above and beyond! While I know there are 1000’s of great dads out there, he is definitely our hometown hero!!

Our local parenting newsletter is holding a Hottest Dad contest at www.tidewaterparent.com . I couldn’t wait to enter him and brag on his awesome corn pancakes :) I rarely enter contest/sweepstakes but felt that I couldn’t let this opportunity pass by. If he makes the final cuts it will be based on votes, so WE will need your support!

We’re So Lucky!

We are a family of seven.  My husband Paul has a 19 year old son named Paulie.  I have an 8 year old daughter named Juliana.  We were married in February of 2007.  In July of 2008, our twins Louis and Anthony were born.  Just 14 months later, Joseph completed our family.  Our house has its chaotic moments, and I often feel like I am losing my mind.  Luckily, my Superman is always there to save the day!
With children spanning almost 20 years, Paul is the best Dad in the world.  He always knows the right thing to say.  And my daughter loves her “Daddy”, as Paul has taken her on as his own from the very start.  At Juliana’s First Holy Communion Mass last month, the person she chose to give her rose to during the family blessing was Paul, and as she handed to him she said “You might not be my real father, but you are definitely my real DAD!”
This SuperDad does it all!  In the morning, he changes diapers, gets bottles and breakfasts ready and takes Juliana to school.  When he comes home from work, he helps with dinner, cleans dishes, does baths and pajamas and gets them into bed.  He can cook and do laundry, too, which is great for when I need an extra hand!  Paul helps with homework, coaches softball, swims like a fish with the kids, and loves to lay down on the floor and play wrestle with the kids.  He is always fair and is extremely generous, and always makes me smile.
With a large family including 3 babies under two, we come up short handed as adults in this household!  But Paul has enough eyes, ears and hands to handle all of us, including me!  He is a hard worker, a strong but sensitive man, and by far, the BEST Dad any kid can ever ask for!

Fathers Day

Well my plan to get Shaughn to say Mama as revenge for learning and repeating Dada on Mothers Day, has failed. Oh well :) Mister baby and I set up the dining room table in cutesy decorations with Brent’s gifts and cards, and then ran off in search of his special Fathers Day breakfast. When I asked last week what my husband would like for his grand breakfast I expected to hear the works. Something that would keep me in the kitchen long enough until he woke up from a morning of sleeping in. However, he only requested a McGriddle from McDonalds…..really? I’m offering my slave duties to whip up anything he wants for breakfast and the man only wants that??

I thought about it, realizing that he had not had one of those breakfast sandwiches in probably over a year and that it could be a nice treat. And just as I was about to open my mouth in protest and talk him into wanting something more lavish, I had another thought. “Keep your mouth shut, Krystle. If that is what he truly wants, he will get that and it will save you time of hard work while taking care of Shaughn.” And so that’s exactly what I did, kept it shut. So I smiled and said “Alright, that sounds good.” However no breakfast in this household is complete without coffee, and since this was a special occasion, Shaughn & I went to Starbucks to get his favorite, a Venti White Chocolate Mocha. Of course, Mommy needed her caffeine as well, so I indulged into a coffee drink, myself.

I got this cute Daddy Remote which has a bottle opener on the bottom of it, a mini photobook from Walgreens (for just $6!) that held 24 photos which I put pictures only containing him and my son from birth to recent, and some typical guy stuff that he needed like body wash and deodorant. My grandmother sent him a $25 Starbucks gift card… could have used that this morning, haha! But all in all he seemed very pleased, which is what I was hoping. The day is still young, and Shaughn is napping away from such a tiring morning he had, running around with me and playing with a big bouncy blue ball I got at Walmart last night. He was loving his new toy, better than anything that made sounds. In a little bit, we’re going to head over to my parents house for daddy’s day with my dad and some pool time for Shaughn. Not a bad first Fathers day for Brent if I do say so myself. How did you spend it?
