My Walk For Babies…

This past Sunday, I took a three and a half mile walk through Manhattan in the pouring rain with 5000 others.  I walked my first March of Dimes’ “March for Babies”.  I had many reasons why I decided to walk with the NYC MomsLikeMe team this year…

FIRST – I spent the last 2 summers on bed rest in pre-term labor hoping and praying to keep my babies inside for a few more weeks.  I know how lucky I am.  I have four beautiful children.  For my children, I  walked.

SECOND – I have 2 babies in my heart who I never got the chance to hold and love…  It has been 9 years since I lost them, but I will never forget them…  In memory of those babies, I walked.

THIRD – in my road to becoming a mother, I met many wonderful women who dealt with many trials and tribulations.  For ALL of them and ALL of their babies, I walked.

FOURTH – All of my children were born early.  I am happy to say that I have been blessed.  All of my children were born healthy.  I wanted to support all those babies and moms who have dealt with prematurity and other health issues.  For all of those babies and moms, I walked.

And I walked for baby Maria, the little girl of dear friends of our family, who is in the NICU and is in need of our love and prayers.

I intend to walk again next year, and in the years to follow.  What a great cause, and I was able to help, even with just a few hundred dollars that I managed to raise.  Hopefully, next year I can raise some more money, and grow a larger team of walkers.  And one of the best parts of walking was that I  was able to walk with my daughter Juliana.  Due to the heavy rains, I was unable to take my little guys, but to spend the time and have those moments with my little girl was just amazing.
